Kiss of life
When 22-year old Gardell Martin fell into a swollen river in Pennsylvania, USA, in March 2015, he wasn’t expected to survive. By the time the ambulance arrived, there was no pulse, so they started CPR. The little boy’s temperature was 77 degrees, more than 20 degrees lower than is normal, and resuscitation continued for 101 minutes. Against all odds, Gardell’s heart re-started and he went on to make a full recovery. The doctor who performed the CPR said it was a miracle – but was it just good luck? You decide!
