Not one but five headless ghosts prowl the ruins of Dunphail Castle, in Moray, Scotland. Back in 1330, the castle was besieged by enemy forces. Five brave soldiers fought their way out of the castle to try to find food for their starving comrades trapped inside. They managed to find some bags of grain - but that’s when their luck ran out. When they tried to get back into the castle, they were captured and beheaded. Then, yelling, ‘Here’s beef for your bannocks!’ their enemies threw their heads over the castle walls. In the 1700s, five headless skeletons were found in a burial mound outside the castle. Numerous visitors have reported seeing the decapitated spirits, and hearing the ghostly echoes of screams and swords clashing as the restless ghosts relive their

last, gory battle.
