In Iceland, a huge cat is said to roam the land at Christmas. Traditionally, farmers would give their hardest workers a new set of clothes at Christmas and the lazy ones would be devoured by the cat! Today, it’s customary for all Icelanders to get new clothes at Christmas to stay out of the claws of the Yule Cat!
