Overcome – with no emotion
In January 1997, Miles Evans appeared at a Press conference with his distraught wife Paula.
His stepdaughter Zoe, 9, was missing, and Evans pleaded for information. But, unknown to viewers, he’d suffocated Zoe and dumped her body in woodland. Evans was jailed for life for Zoe’s murder.
Cliff says:
‘Evans is looking down, but that doesn’t convince us of sadness – his brows are flat. With Zoe’s mother, we saw brows raised in the centre, a genuine indicator of sadness. If you don’t see that facial display, you need to question whether the emotion is being felt.’
