The Taj Mahal was built in 1632 by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. She died in childbirth aged just 39.

Samurai Hideyoshi died in 1598. His widow built a temple and prayed for him until she died. Lady Devorgilla built Sweetheart Abbey, Scotland, after husband John Balliol died in 1268, and was buried there with his heart, 22 years later.
