Dubbed ‘Otzi the Iceman’, a mummified body over 5,000 years old was found in 1991 in the Italian Alps. Scientists reconstructed a 3-D model of the man (left). Initially, it was thought Otzi froze to death, but tests showed an arrow wound in his shoulder, a blow to the head and defensive injuries to his hands. He’d clearly met a violent end and his death is the world’s first-known murder.
