Another scheme involving household rubbish… Next year, the council in Guernsey is going to charge households for the number of bin bags they leave out to be collected.
Councils in the UK have tried everything, from providing a huge selection of containers for rubbish, to reducing collections to every three weeks.
Why don’t the councils on the Continent have the same problems with their rubbish? Most are collected weekly. One even has a daily collection. Perhaps our councillors should visit some European countries to learn the secret of their success?
