QI want to try a smoky eye for my nephew’s wedding this summer, but I don’t know where to start – help! Karen Coleman, 55, Essex
AAs it’s a summer wedding, we’d recommend going for warm, brown tones. Start by sweeping a lighter shade across your lid, before blending one a couple of shades darker across the crease. For extra staying power, prep your lids with an eyeshadow primer. Finish off by applying a brown kohl across your upper lash line, followed by mascara.
QSince going grey, I feel like I spend half my life at the hairdressers. Can you recommend some good at-home alternatives? My hair is blonde. Gemma Wallace, 61, Wolverhampton
ABox colours have come on leaps and bounds lately, so you won’t have to worry about damaging your hair or covering the bathroom in dye any more. Nice ’n Easy’s new formula is drip-free, conditions at every step and has been reformulated to ensure you’re far less likely to suffer an allergic reaction. For in-between dyes, use a root spray or powder.
QI’m going on holiday soon and I’m worried that I won’t tan as well if I use sun cream – is that true? Harriet Smith, 25, Loughborough
ADon’t worry – that’s definitely a myth and using SPF won’t stop you coming home with a holiday glow. It’s so important to be using at least an SPF30 with UVA AND UVB protection to protect against burning and ageing. Boots’ own-brand Soltan range has 5* UVA protection. Try a lotion with added tanextending ingredients to max out your tan.
