When the kitchen wallpaper is peeled back, three bodies are found. The film ends with a title card saying Christie was hanged and Evans posthumously pardoned. Hurt’s portrayal of Evans was widely praised and he received a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The events at Rillington Place were also turned into a BBC series in 2016.
