Q When I have my period, there’s a very noticeable smell. Can I stop it? Martha, Scarborough

AIf this is a new smell or there’s soreness or discharge, see your GP to rule out infection. Otherwise, it’s likely to be the normal smell of old blood. Change your tampon every few hours, wash daily, avoid soap or douches, and remember it’s not as noticeable as you might think.
