THE MISTRESS
Amber Frey was the 27-year-old massage therapist who turned the case on its head.
On 30 December, police in Modesto, California, received a call from a distressed Frey to say she was the lover of the man in the news whose wife was missing.
She told police she’d been dating Scott Peterson since November 2002. But she insisted Peterson never told her he had a wife, let alone one who was pregnant with their first child. He’d spun a web of lies.
Agreeing to let police tap her phone, Frey carried on as usual as they listened in to every conversation.
On 24 January, she went public, telling a Press conference, ‘We had a romantic relationship. When I found out who Scott was, I contacted the police.’
He went on to confess at least four separate affairs.
