In 1993, the bodies of three 8-year- old boys were found naked and tied up with shoelaces in a drainage ditch in West Memphis, Arkansas.
At the height of the so- called Satanic panic in 1990s America, the police and terrified locals were convinced the boys had been murdered in a Satanic ritual.
Suspicion fell upon misfit teenagers Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, who were all heavy- metal music fans.
After their arrests, the West Memphis Three, as they came to be known, were found guilty, with Baldwin and Misskelley sentenced to life, and Echols sentenced to death.
But, as this trilogy of documentaries points out, there was much more to this case than met the eye.
