1965: Kray twins in custody
Twins Ronald and Reginald Kray were remanded in custody on 7 January 1965, charged in connection with running a protection racket in London. Huw Cargill Mccowan said they offered to supply two bouncers for his Soho club in return for a percentage of the club’s takings. The Krays denied it. Although acquitted, the identical pair were found guilty of murder four years later.
