Get away! Costa del Sol

Experience Spain’s glamorous coastline from a much-loved resort…

-

The weather!

1

The Costa del Sol stretches along the Spanish coastline for 159km and boasts the country’s best climate. Summers are reliably hot and sunny, and winters are among the mildest in Europe, with very little rain. The beaches are beautiful and clean, and the area draws in the world’s glitterati year after year. For guaranteed sun a short flight away from the UK, you can’t do much better.

Head out on the boat

2

Hop on a Beneteau Oceanis 42ft luxury sailing yacht with Marbella Yacht Charters (marbella-yacht-charters.com). The team are an absolute delight, keeping you laughing and your glasses topped up with rosé all day long. What more could you ask? After a few dips to cool down, there’s plenty of time to dry off sunbathing at the front of the boat. Bliss!

Visit Puerto Banús

3 If you want to seek out that real Riviera feel, head to the Puerto Banús marina. It is more compact than you might expect, but that does not deter the fleet of super yachts that settle there season after season. Their sheer scale is breathtaking, and this particular enclave has learnt to cater for their moneyed clientele. The pretty, cobbled side streets don’t offer up the gift shops or Spanish cafes you might expect. Instead, windows full of Louis Vuitton and Dior compete with the likes of Gucci and Prada. Buy an ice cream and windowshop to your heart’s content.

Stay in style

4

Club La Costa World is a mind-blowingly extensive resort that sits upon the lush and undulating hillsides that overlook the coast. The site is made up of a number of individual resorts – including Santa Cruz Suites, where we stayed – which have their own pools, tennis courts, restaurants, bars and entertainment.

Try an activity

5

The range of activities on offer at Club La Costa World is astounding, particularly if you are travelling as a family, think buggy safaris, dolphin watching and sunset boat trips. Or drop the little ones at the kids’ club and book in a full-body massage if you need some me-time.

Eat, eat, eat!

6

When it comes to eating options you will be spoilt for choice in Club La Costa World. Safari Restaurant is a go-to. The menu is vast offering up everything from paella to steak and pasta dishes, all of them hit the spot. Outside of the resort, La Sala, in Puerto Banús, is a must. It opened in 2010 and quickly became the place to be seen. The front-decked terrace is always busy, and it is worth checking the website (lasala banus.com) for promotions.
