No more pet deaths
How sad to read first Carol Hartnell’s story (10 Jan issue) then Gaye Fisher’s (21 March issue) about the deaths of their dogs. My cat Smokey was killed – also by an unleashed akita dog – a few years ago.
The attack on our cat happened when the dog came up our drive and into our front porch.
We told the police but, unfortunately, although the owner was caught, he’d given the dog to someone else and fled to another area.
Now Gaye’s campaigning for a much-needed
change in the law to make attacks on companion dogs a criminal offence.
I urge readers to take action as detailed at the end of Gaye’s story. It could happen to YOUR pet!
