Settling in

1

Head to the south of the island and you’ll reach Gennadi and the all-inclusive resort of TUI Sensatori Atlantica Dreams. Not only does it overlook the stunning Aegean Sea but it’s also in a prime spot to get to know the rest of the island. Drive one way and explore Prasonisi’s unique coastline or head the other way for the idyllic town of Lindos with its ancient acropolis and sugar-cube houses spilling down to a turquoise bay.

Relax and refresh

2

The temperatures can rocket in the summer months, so you’ll be thankful for the variety of pools here. Whether you love lazing and listening to your favourite podcast, waterbased games or you’d rather escape the sun with an indoor swim, there’s something for you.

For the kids

3

There’s an excellent splashpool with water slides and a tipping bucket, which gloriously soaks everyone around it. But when they’re finished making a splash in the children’s pool, head to the kids’ club. Clubs here encourage creativity with arts and crafts and cooking sessions, so don’t be surprised if they come back with mini masterpieces. The Silly Science Lab is also a hit with the kids, mostly due to its giant bubble!

A touch of history

4

Amid the luxury, you’ll stumble upon archaeological ruins within the resort. Dating from the 5th century, the remains of a settlement were discovered during groundworks. Experts carried out a full excavation, and the resort now has a resident archaeologist to inform guests. A boardwalk snakes across the remains for a closer look.

Explore the Old Town

5 As you approach the walls of the Old Town of Rhodes, just knowing you are about to enter the oldest inhabited medieval city in Europe is a thrill. The most important thing to remember is that the Old Town is not laid out on a grid. There are roughly 200 streets or alleys – some of them bearing no name. Don’t fret about getting lost – use it as an opportunity to explore the incredible buildings, mosques, fountains, Byzantine and Gothic churches, and exciting shops.
