3 steps to... Entertain bored kiddies

1 Make a time capsule with the child and lock it away until their 21st birthday. I made one years ago with my daughter. She’s now 23 and she absolutely loved the memories it brought back.

2 You don’t have to be Mary Berry to distract kids with baking. Even decorating some ready-made biscuits with colourful icing can be great fun, plus it cuts down on mess and means you don’t even have to use the oven! Just leave them to set in the fridge.

3 Is it raining again? Well, who says a picnic needs to be outside? Just grab some tasty finger food, put down a blanket and spread out some cushions, and have one in the middle of the living-room floor. You could even invite their favourite cuddly toys. Who needs sunshine, anyway?!
