Have you heard?
A quarter of parents of current or prospective university students have had to (or intend to) cut back on luxury spending, such as holidays or new cars, to support them while they study, according to research by Which? And 6% have taken, or will have to take, a second job to help cover the cost.
The study found that just over eight in 10 parents of current students are supporting their child financially, and half said that the overall cost was more than they expected. Parents’ contributions averaged £360 a month, according to the poll.
