WHAT’S THE GUILTY VERDICT?

-

Once all the evidence had been heard, the jury deliberated for almost 12 hours, split over two days.

Finally, in December 2021, they convicted Lynlee Renick, then 33, of second-degree murder and armed criminal action for her part in the killing of her husband Ben Renick.

The jury saw through Lynlee’s lies and decided that, far from being an innocent party, she was the real snake in the grass.

Lynlee Renick was found guilty of conspiring to murder her husband with employees at her spa and her ex-boyfriend Michael Humphrey.

Following the verdict, Lynlee Renick sobbed and clutched one of her legal team members for support.

In January 2022, four-and-a-half years after her husband Ben’s grisly murder, Renick was sentenced to 16 years in jail.

‘You’re awful lucky, ma’am,’ Judge Kevin Crane told Renick. ‘You’re going to get out in your 40s, and my 40s weren’t too bad. I just hope you don’t kill again.’

Following the trial, Bobette Tucker, a friend of Ben’s family, described Lynlee’s shy demeanour in court.

‘Underneath that is a very calculating and self-serving woman. I think she was probably used to getting everything that she’s ever wanted as a child. And, as an adult, by golly, she was going to get it again,’ said Tucker.
