What friends.?!

-

QI lost my job, my home and partner through addiction. But with my parents’ help and professional support, I managed to recover.

Yet every friend I asked for help refused me – even when I was feeling suicidal.

Now I don’t need help, I find the social invitations returning. But I can’t forget my friends weren’t there for me when it mattered.

Am I being unreasonable? Rebecca, 31

AWhen you’re at your absolute lowest is when you discover who your real friends are. But you know that.

It may be that how you acted in the depths of your addiction upset them. But if they were real mates, they’d be up front and offer you the chance to apologise.

You’ve done a cracking job building a new life, now’s the time to add some new friends to the mix.

If the old ones couldn’t be there for you at your darkest hour, they don’t deserve to be with you when you’re walking in the sunshine.
