Do they work?
Ablog by The Attraction Doctor (Jeremy Nicholson MSW, PhD) in Psychology Today says that studies have found pick-up lines highlighting a man’s athleticism, culture, wealth and generosity are more likely to lead to further conversation. But those that are overtly sexual or empty compliments are judged to be least effective. It says outgoing and energetic women prefer humorous and direct lines, while men looking for short-term flings use overly sexual pick-up lines which, not surprisingly, only work on a small percentage of us.
