Ablog by The Attraction Doctor (Jeremy Nicholson MSW, PhD) in Psychology Today says that studies have found pick-up lines highlighti­ng a man’s athleticis­m, culture, wealth and generosity are more likely to lead to further conversati­on. But those that are overtly sexual or empty compliment­s are judged to be least effective. It says outgoing and energetic women prefer humorous and direct lines, while men looking for short-term flings use overly sexual pick-up lines which, not surprising­ly, only work on a small percentage of us.
