Q Two days after our son was born, my partner walked out. He saw our son at Christmas for two days and then only once since then.

Our boy is almost 8 months and his dad has always made excuses for why he can’t see him. But now he’s asked to take him for the weekend!

How can I trust him?

A You’re a top mum, with fab instincts. If he’s not keeping up with visitation now, how on earth can you allow him to take your son for longer?

He doesn’t even know him! Stand your ground and tell your ex that you’d love for him to see your son but he needs to be reliable before he can take him for the whole weekend.
