Mil­i­tary medal col­lec­tors al­ways ap­pre­ci­ate the op­por­tu­nity to buy those awarded to a fa­ther and son. This group be­longed to two Pol­ish sol­diers who fought along­side each other at Monte Cassino in the 1944 Bat­tle for Rome, one of the long­est and blood­i­est en­gage­ments of the Ital­ian cam­paign. Pin­point al­lied bomb­ing re­duced the abbey to rub­ble be­fore the Nazi strong­hold was fi­nally cap­tured by the Se­cond Pol­ish Corps. The medals and as­so­ci­ated me­mora­bilia sold for £1,350 at Han­sons auc­tion­eers in Et­wall, Der­byshire.
