THE PRODUCERS Mel Brooks’ musical masterpiece is the festive feel-good offering at the Royal Exchange. Featuring the shockingly funny Springtime for Hitler in Germany, plus dancing and plenty of camp fun, this production is already a big hit. Theatre producer Max Bialystock has a string of failures in his wake but his accountant Leo Bloom thinks a producer could make more money with a dud than a hit. They set out to produce the biggest flop in Broadway history, and make a pile of cash in the process. What could go wrong? This wickedly funny love letter to the Broadway musical builds upon the Exchange’s reputation for reinventing big musicals for its in-the-round theatre.
