It’s an overall look
Cheshire Life: March 2019
The jumpsuit seems to have morphed into something akin to the boiler suit this season, a much more utilitarian piece of kit than its predecessor. Where the jumpsuit with its off-the-shoulder, spangly style conjures up a past of nights at Studio 54 in the 1970s the boiler suit takes its inspiration from art students at an anti-poll tax demo. Nothing wrong with this, in fact it’s probably dead right for the uncertain political climate. A trendy piece of workwear such as this can be worn in a bar with attitude and when you’re servicing your own car...there can’t be many pieces of clothing you can say that about. In fact it’s a win-win! Anyway, I do rather like these different takes on the all-in-one. In fact I can’t wait for the newest version of the flight suit. This is another overall kind of outfit but a bit baggier. It’s just so Top Gun. I’d avoid the Aviators though. You don’t want to look like a fashion cliche. HEADY STUFF Hold onto your hats. The headband is the only accessory you need this summer. I’m not talking a sad headcrushing elasticated band to keep your hair out of your eyes but a rather more magnificent creation - a kind of casual tiara. All the fashion-conscious celebs are wearing them, like Millie Mackintosh, Sam Faiers and Emma Louise Connolly. Pictured here is one of my fave styles. Glitz n’ Pieces, £41 glitznpieces.com LAMÉ EXCUSE There’s a touch of Russian oligarch’s mistress to this pussybow blouse which is one reason I love it. The other message I’m deriving is why save sparkles for the festive season? Honestly, gold lamé looks just as fabulous in the summer when you’re sunkissed and sensational. It’s designed by cult-ish Ukrainian designer Petar Petrov who is already a fashion star in Vienna where he lives and who I predict we’ll soon hear more of in the UK.
