An easily digestible review

The Wizard Tearoom Macclesfield Road, Nether Alderley, Macclesfield. TheWizardTearoom

Venue: This is no ordinary caff. A dinky white-washed space with an enchanting, hidden gem vibe, where dogs snooze beside a woodburner, and the rustic open kitchen rustles up classic breakfast-style dishes and cakes that taste as exceptional as they look. New to the tearoom are a host of interesting locally-sourced products, including kombucha from Altrincham’s Booch and Brew – a raw fermented tea packed with billions of live cultures. We promise it’s yummy. And cold-pressed juices from The Garden, Hale. Menu: The back-to-basics breakfast baps with sausages and bacon from Waugh Brow Farm are especially brilliant; that and the banana bread smeared in homemade nut butter and seeds.

Décor and ambience: Glowing candles, wildflowerfilled vases, vintage crockery and cosy nooks to curl up in after a bracing walk on the Edge – no wonder it’s packed out seven days a week. Service: Always super helpful, whether armed with pooch or pack of kids.

Cost: Around £20 for a breakfast with superb coffees.
