Therese lives in a small coastal town in the northern part of Sweden with her husband Mikael, their 2 year old son and two cats.

Home is...

We live in an old house with a rural feel, although it is in the city. My interest in old things started when I was little and discovered old family heirlooms in my parents’ barn. Many of those things are still in my home today.

Christmas’ must...

To me, the most essential item at Christmas is a real Christmas tree, that I go and chop myself in the forest.

Christmas decorations are...

Because I grew up outside the city with nature around the house, I like to gather fir tree branches, pinecones, mosses and other things from nature to decorate. I rarely buy new Christmas decorations. Most of the decorations I have are inherited from my grandma. At Christmas dinner, I use cutlery from my grandma’s parents with their initials on. Even glass and linen napkins come from them. I also like to decorate the table with natural elements such as apples, cinnamon, gingerbread etc. It’s a challenge now that I have a 2 year old son who wants to eat the decorations! Around the house I place old skates, skis and sledges, little fir trees everywhere and Christmas socks sewn with old sheets.

You describe your style as...

My whole home is filled with flea market finds and heirlooms. I love white and most furniture is white, but I like some pieces in natural wood for a nice contrast. My passion is to visit flea markets and find bargains! I feel instantly in my heart when I see something I want, but I rarely know where I’m going to place it. Everything finds its place over time.

Your Christmas colours are...

Green, white and a dash of red on natural linen tablecloths, kitchen towels and a few apples...
