Sidlesham flat as they slip to tame defeat

Seaford 1 Sidlesham 0

Sidlesham slipped tamely to defeat on Saturday in a game that screamed mid-table end-of-season mediocrity.

The hosts scored the only goal on nine minutes when a deep cross was misjudged by right-back Ben Dines, which allowed the Seaford striker to convert from just inside the box. That was the only shot on target for Seaford in the entire game.

For Sids, Dave Rough hit the post from a free kick, Brad Dean should have scored from close range and in the second half skipper Rob Madden went close from a corner.

Sids controlled the game and played some decent football on a difficult pitch, and the wind didn’t help either side.

But Sids were flat throughout the game and didn’t create the chances they have been doing in recent weeks. A lack of goals has been a problem for Sids all season and is the main reason they are mid-table rather than a top-six side.

It’s a problem the club will have to solve if they are to be successful next term.
