Celebrations are in order

-

‘Double celebrations’ are in order at Chichester Free School after it retained its ‘good’ Ofsted rating and appointed a brand new principal.

News that a vaping shop was to open up in Chichester proved unpopular with some Observer readers.

Every Cloud Vape Shop moved into a premises in Cathedral Courtyard on Saturday.

Sharing their thoughts on social media, some readers of the Observer were not too happy about the announcement.

Nikki Louise Jones said: “There is already a few... Chichester is just gonna be known for coffee shops and vaping...

“It’s getting pathetic now!” Adrian Marden said: “If there is enough demand it will succeed.

“Just amazes me they think they help people quit smoking. Lots of ‘vapers’ seem too young to have ever smoked a real cigarette.”

Many comments also joked whether the shop would be selling coffee, too.

Iain Jessup said: “Another? Aren’t there three already. I am concerned about the long term effects of vaping, since you are putting a chemical and flavouring into your lungs and no long term trials have been conducted.

“Remember that 60+ years ago cigarettes were recommended for those suffering with coughs etc.”

The spokesman said: “We’re always on the look out for new locations as we have been opening a new store almost every month for the last year and will continue to do so.

“Chichester is quite close to a few of our stores and we’ve always had customers coming from Chichester saying it would be great if we could open there.

“It’s a beautiful town with great people and there seems to be a lot of vapers and unfortunately a lot of smokers which we would like to change.

“We’ve helped thousands of people give up smoking cigarettes and want to continue with this.”
