Thursday, April 4 HARTING

TALK: The Harting Society’s next talk will be held in the Harting Community Hall at 7.30pm when Harting’s renowned resident mountaineer and explorer Rebecca Stephens will talk on Shackleton. There are few greater stories of survival than Sir Ernest Shackleton’s Imperial Trans-antarctic Expedition of 1914-17. Rebecca will be talking about this expedition, illustrated with photographer Frank Hurley’s exquisite black and white photographs of over 100 years ago and her own colour snaps taken on journeys South in more recent times.’ Rebecca’s talk is particularly timely in view of the current ambitious expedition to locate, after 100 years, the wreck site of the Endurance.
