Health Qi Gong

-

“An oasis in my desert”

You wouldn’t perhaps expect to find a little piece of modern China in a setting like the Fishbourne Centre, but Health Qi Gong (pronounced Chi Kung) there has just celebrated its second birthday.

Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese system of movement, breathing and exercise which is suitable for everyone, young or old.

By moving gently into different positions it strengthens muscles, stretches the body and helps with balance, flexibility, agility, confidence, poise, calming, rejuvenation and general health, and really makes you feel better.

Led by traditional Chinese medicine practitioner Ping Jiang, we have learned seven forms of Health Qi Gong over the two years including tai chi (24 forms), rejuvenation qi gong and the wonderful da wu dance, which, according to one class member is “full body fitness in 11 minutes”

Central to the appeal of the class is the enthusiasm and expertise of our teacher, Ping Jiang. Class members say: “Ping seems to recognise our individual needs and helps us”, “She is incredibly kind and caring, finding numerous ways to teach us.

“We are extraordinarily fortunate to have a teacher like Ping who always works beyond our expectations. “The sessions give me an immediate sense of calm, making my mad world stay still for a while. An oasis in my desert!”

Over the two years, we have given public demonstrations of Health Qi Gong and had social gatherings for Chinese New Year and for Christmas celebrations.

Some 30 people have joined the Class and there is a regular core who attend every week at 5.30pm-6.30pm on Thursday afternoons at The Fishbourne Centre.

There is a modest charge to cover costs and new members are welcome to come along at any time.
