Shooters find their range in top division

The Sussex Smallbore Rifle Association A team have built on their successful start to the season with further wins in rounds three and four of division one.
In round three they beat Derbyshire 965-959 with top shot Sarah Beamish of Southwick scoring another perfect score of 200.
She was ably supported by Uckfield’s Robin Brown with 198 and his team-mate Tim Field with 191.
Round four pitted Sussex against fellow undefeated county Devon and that top clash brought the best out of the Sussex team giving them a comfortable 973-962 victory.
The Sussex team demonstrated their class with all the team scoring in the 190s. Top score was once again posted by Southwick’s Sarah Beamish (199) with Uckfield’s Robin Brown and Tim Field scoring 198 and 191 respectively.
Lindfield’s Nick Harvey (194) and Horsham’s Steve Buckley (193) completed the team’s consistent shoot. The Sussex A team are now two points clear of Devon at the top of division one.
The Sussex B team posted wins in rounds three and four of division two.
In round three, they comprehensively beat Cumbria & Northumbria 947-756, with Uckfield’s Mick Mepham top scoring for the team with 192, closely followed by team-mate Martin Webb (188), while the other team members, Adam Cornbill, Sam Hazelden and Steve Farrant each scored 189 out of 200.
Round four saw another consistent shoot by the team and another win, this time against Durham & Cleveland by 942-933. Top score was shared by Southwick’s Adam Cornbill and Balcombe’s Sam Hazelden each with 191. This result leaves the team in second place, two points behind leaders Yorkshire A.
Sussex C posted the top score in round three of division four with 942, giving them a comprehensive win in a bye round. Top scores in the team were made by Peter Westran of Horsham with 192 and Southwick’s Callum Hastie on 190.
In round four they were competing against top side Gloucestershire B and suffered a defeat by 929916. Top scores were made by Callum Hastie (192), Mike Martin of Southwick (186) and Alex Henderson of Lindfield (185). Sussex C now lie in fifth place in division four.
