Tell us about your role please
For the Attention of Gillian Keegan:
Gillian Keegan writes in 11th April edition of the Chichester Observer, about her visit to The South Downs National Park as though she were a tourist information officer rather than our representative in Westminster.
It was really nice to read about the wonderful walks, the farmland which, as we all know, is beautifully managed ‘through some form of agricultural environment scheme’ but I rather expected something more from her communication to us her constituents.
If she’d expressed how lessons from her day trips could be applied to her role as our MP, that would be more the thing.
But to simply tell us that Tesco does a great job of educating young farmers sounds more like a Tesco endorsement than anything.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m as impressed as Gillian Keegan.
It’s just that I would have rather heard about how her Party intends to find replacement funds for the loss of European Funding for the South Downs if we leave. The EU is currently very generous in supporting our National Parks.
The Yorkshire Post, in November 2017, under the Freedom of Information Act, obtained a figure for English National Parks of £6.4 million granted from 2012-2017.
This is a sum not to be sniffed at since the Tories cut Government funding by a quarter from 2011-2017.
I am pleased that our MP is getting out and about in the locality when she’s down here from Liverpool and Westminster, but could I respectfully ask her to use the column inches she is afforded by our local paper to tell us about the role she and her
