No pre-warning of bus cuts

- TIM NEGUS Westergate Street, Westergate

Further to my comments on Compass buses cancelling the Saturday service to Chichester I note that a reader said I should contact the local county hall and the department of transport.

I can confirm I did so and as yet have still had no reply, what a surprise.

I would encourage readers to get their pens out and start complaining, you never know someone might actually sit up and listen to us.

Something that may be of interest to your readers is that according to one of the drivers who commented on the fact I was his second paying customer that day, bus company’s get compensated as little as 50p per a pensioners pass which I find very unbelievable and believe he was trying to say it’s the pensioners’ fault in the way a pensioners pass is funded and should be means tested.

His words not mine, but perhaps some readers would like to comment on this if they know better I would be very interested.

Since Compass cancelling the 85 service on Saturday I wonder if they also would like to comment on the fact that all the bus stops are still showing a Saturday service in Westergate.

Let’s hope new people to the area have not wasted their day waiting for it to arrive when the last Saturday service was on the 13th April.

Also going by the response I had from some who didn’t even know the service was being cancelled.

Was it to hard for the company to put a notice in the 85 bus to pre warn people but then as they have not updated the bus stops I guess that would be yes.

I mean we are merely customers are we not when they are asking for loyalty.
