Chichester BID has announced a new campaign to champion the city and the many successful businesses found here.

Chichester BID has announced a new campaign to champion the city centre and the many successful businesses that can be found there.

Running from June to August, Love Local, Shop Local will be a three-month celebration of Chichester.

As part of the campaign the BID has invested in activities to help enhance the city centre with additional street cleaning and planting displays.

The BID has also been working on a design project to demonstrate what Chichester has to offer.

The design will be used across all promotional materials for the Love Local, Shop Local campaign, including a set of new flags and bunting to decorate the streets and independent shops.

Chichester is becoming well known for its wealth of independent businesses and to celebrate this important sector of the city, the BID has announced it would be creating an independents shopping guide to help encourage visitors to discover these many innovative and talented retailers.

Jeanette Hockley, BID members service manager, said: “The aim of the campaign is to inject some TLC into the streetscape to reinforce a sense of civic pride, make the city centre look as attractive as possible to visitors and shoppers alike, and create an appealing backdrop to showcase the city’s history and culture as well as the vast array of activities and retail experiences it has to offer.

“With galleries, shops, independent retailers, restaurants, bars, a thriving music scene and iconic venues such as Pallant House Gallery, Edes House and Chichester Festival Theatre there is so much to be proud of – we really want to remind people who live, work and shop in Chichester what a fantastic and diverse place this is and encourage them to get behind the campaign and support our city.”

As part of the campaign, there will be a weekly feature in the Observer shining a spotlight on some of the thriving businesses in the city centre across various sectors.
