A boxing club is celebrating after announcing it would be moving into a new premises later this year.

Fighting Fit Amateur Boxing Club was based in Grit Gym, which was on Station Approach, but moved down to a site off Terminus Road.

The club was then based at the site for ‘between six to eight months’ but after deciding to leave, saw it had nowhere to go.

Head coach, Andy Josling, then sent the message out that the club had nowhere to go.

A message was then posted to the club’s Facebook which read: “We would like to thank all of you for sticking with the club even though the training conditions were not ideal. Your loyalty did not go unnoticed.”

Members of the club then began posting on Facebook asking if any buildings were available and asking members of the public to get in touch with any availabilities and within three days, Fighting Fit Amateur Boxing Club received an offer.

Andy said: “I was shocked and happy. We had gone from being very despondent to happy within 24 hours – we thought that this was it.”

The club was then approached by Daz Dugan from family-run Legends Health and Fitness, based in Bognor Regis.

Andy added: “[Daz] handed us a lifeline and for that we are so grateful.

“There is a good chance the club would have folded without that and a lot of club members would not have benefited.”

A message on the club’s Facebook announced the next step and promised club members ‘you will love it’.

The club has the motto ‘Jab don’t stab’ and helps provide a ‘much needed outlet’ for children who could ‘go down the wrong path’, according to the management.

Andy said the club will move in to the site in June.
