Midhurst Flower Club

-

At our April meeting we welcomed Nina Tucknott with her title ‘Wood U Believe It’.

Nina, who is a qualified NAFAS demonstrator, brought us original and delightful designs together with historic facts.

She produced both modern and contemporary arrangements ranging from her simple and easy to follow wooden wheel wreath display – but adding Gloriosa as a bold finishing touch – to the in-season colour of coral in her fantastic driftwood prop with coral coloured roses, hypericum berries and sprayed ferns, softened with green asparagus ferns.

She gave her audience some useful tips on flower care and showcased different types of foliage with manipulation of aspidistra leaves bring one of the most effective.

She definitely made a statement with her flowers and was an inspiration to us all.

National Flower Arranging Day takes place on Friday,

May 3.

Please keep a look-out for our club members’ posies left in public places in and around the Midhurst area, from public benches to shop doorsteps and well-known landmarks – to be picked up by a member of the public.

These posies are used to spread some happiness to, perhaps, lonely people to brighten their day.

The posies are marked with a NAFAS label and say ‘Please take me home’, so that passers-by can be in no doubt that the flowers are theirs to keep.

If you’re interested in flower arranging, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, why not come along and join our Club.

We meet at the Methodist Church Hall, North Street, GU29 9DU, on the fourth Tuesday of each month, starting at 2pm.

Visitors are most welcome, tickets are £6 on the door.
