Pregnancy Options Centre has won a £1,000 Movement for Good award thanks to nominations from the public.

Pregnancy Options Centre, St John’s Street, Chichester, was nominated to win a £1,000 boost as part of specialist insurer Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good awards, which is giving £1million to charities this summer.

This grant will provide counselling sessions for men and women for unplanned pregnancy, post abortion or pregnancy loss.

Pregnancy Options Centre aims to provide a safe space where clients can process, understand and express their thoughts and feeling surrounding their situation.

It is the only free, tailored service in the area to provide this type of support.

This grant will also provide educational sessions aiming to improve a young person’s awareness of sexual consent, unplanned pregnancy, internet safety and healthy relationships. The centre wants to give young people the correct information about these topics, as well as the tools and skills to help them make informed, well-timed decisions.

Anna Madge, centre manager, thanked everyone who nominated the centre. “We are delighted to have been chosen as one of the 500 charities to receive £1,000 from Ecclesiastical’s Movement for Good awards. This award will enable us to continue supporting men and women during difficult circumstances and experiences as well as engage with young people on healthy relationships in schools and youth settings.”

Mark Hews, group chief executive at Ecclesiastical, said: “We know that £1,000 can make a huge difference to the incredible work charities do and we’re looking forward to seeing how this financial boost will change lives for the better.”
