Ems Valley Gazette Christine goes out on a happy Parish party and picnic is note amid a chorus of praise perfect for summer day
Parents from a singing class for babies have sung the praises of its founder – as she retires 31 years after holding the first session in her dining room.
Christine Strode, director of parent and baby singing group Mumbaba, was treated to a party featuring a ‘huge’ retirement cake at Emsworth Sports and Social Hall last Saturday.
The good news is the group is carrying on under new management.
Former singing babies – who are now attending classes with their own children – were at the event to thank Christine for her hard work.
She said: ‘Thousands of people have come over the years – it’s been incredible.
“The classes have just been taken over by someone who is very enthusiastic.
“I’m leaving Mumbaba in very safe hands.”
Christine took part in her last Mumbaba class as a member of staff at Emsworth Sports and Social Hall, Havant Road, at the weekend. The Warblington with Emsworth parish picnic and barbecue is being held to celebrate St James’ Day after the 10am service at St James’ Church.
It’s a picnic and a party in the church garden.
This is the nearest Sunday to St James’ Day and the event promises something for everyone.
There will be games and a treasure hunt for the children and a peaceful area to sit and chat for those who want it.
Organisers are suggesting everyone brings their own picnic (and maybe a few extra goodies to share) and they will supply strawberries and cream and choc ices to enjoy as well.
