Chichester Probus Club
The next speaker at the Probus Meeting on Thursday, August 8, is one of its own members John Blake who trained as a pharmacist at Kings College London and has developed his talents in photography and Bonsai trees.
His talk is entitled “Medieval Manuscripts”. As a pharmacist, he is probably used to trying to read the tricky writing of prescriptions by doctors -a skill reserved for those who understand medieval scribblings.
John is also a much praised photographer providing pictures for the national Probus magazine.
The Chichester Probus Club mainly comprises over 60 retired businessmen living in the area.
It meets for a two course meal every second Thursday of each month at the Park Hotel Westhampnett at 12.30pm. Apart from excellent speakers, the club plans various scenic walks of 3-5 miles around the local area guided by its walk organiser. The club also plans social outings and holds a monthly coffee morning in the city on the first Thursday of each month.
We welcome new members and if you would like to come along to any of our meetings with a view to joining contact the secretary Barry Brookes on 01243 262444.
