Teacher thanked on her retirement
Nostalgia
Pupils gathered for a commemorative photograph of the whole school in July, 2010, to mark the retirement of their popular head teacher Hazel Morley. Mrs Morley left school at the end of the summer term this week to spend more time with her own family after teaching for 37 years, 22 of those in the Rother Valley.
“I have been teaching for most of the past 37 years.
“I taught originally in London but have been in the Rother Valley for the past 22 years. I have enjoyed all my time working with children.
“However, I am especially sad to be saying goodbye to the staff, children and families of Stedham,” said Mrs Morley.
“I am leaving to have more time for my own family as well as going on one or two adventures.
“I would like to say a huge thank-you to all the young people I have taught
over the years for the great times we have shared.
“It’s been fun.”
The picture shows the youngsters giving a fond farewell for Stedham Primary School head teacher Hazel Morley as she retired.
Elsewhere in the area, writer and comedian Barry Cryer opened Plaistow and Kirdford Primary School fete with a countdown on Saturday which led to an afternoon of entertainment, games, stalls and refreshment.
It included a show put on by the children of the David Ross academy, complete with ‘St George’ riding to the rescue on a real horse, country dancing, a dog display team and performances from Plaistow’s Got Talent.
Meanwhile, some of England’s most special butterflies were spotted at Botany Bay, Dunsfold, at a recent event organised by the Haslemere Natural History Society. The society’s chairman, Margaret Hibbard, led the walk, accompanied by 20 society members.
