Shooters dominate to land Sussex a county title

The Sussex Smallbore Rifle Association’s lightweight sporting rifle team finished the season in the same fine form they started, decisively winning their last two matches to finish as undefeated champions of division one of the National Inter County League.

Such was the dominance of the Sussex team, they won the league with a 100 per cent record and completed their season by beating secondplaced Devon 974-958 and third-placed Hampshire 976964.

Every member of the team contributed to a great season with an average in the 190s out of 200.

Team captain Richard Woolgar praised his team for their consistency.

The team consisted of: Sarah Beamish (Southwick), Robin Brown and Tim Field (Uckfield), Steve Buckley (Horsham) and Nick Harvey (Lindfield).
