Event entirely in keeping with the company’s ethos
Rolls-royce Motor Cars is the world’s most iconic luxury brand.
But when it made its home at Goodwood near Chichester it was determined to be more than merely a prestige manufacturer.
It wanted to make a positive difference to the community beyond and to those who might only ever aspire to own one of its magnificent cars. So its decision to commit its huge resources to helping children whose lives are blighted by allergies was entirely in keeping with this ethos. A sparking reception and auction - which included bidding for a unique Phantom - raised £1.7m on Saturday toward vital allergy research at Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
Allergies - which can be life threatening and cast a huge blight on all who suffer from them - are alarmingly predominant.
Yet it is an area which rarely receives the same media coverage as other high profile medical conditions.
The event also showcased Sussex at its best. With the stunning Goodwood countryside and our own Nyetimber sparkling wine adding to a superb ambience.
As the county continues to promote itself as a destination venue, many of the visitors said just how impressed they were by Sussex.
So well done to Rolls-royce Motor Cars - and to those who were so keen to support the good cause they even bidded repeatedly against themselves to ensure a superb total was raised.
