Democracy in decision making

Last week’s article by Dr Walsh highlights the lack of democracy at West Sussex County Council (WSCC) where the cabinet system means that all significan­t decisions are made by nine of the 70 elected councillor­s.

Council also uses the same undemocrat­ic system of a cabinet of members of the Conservati­ve party, although they do not have an overall majority, but are simply the largest party.
