Head chef is a finalist in competition
The head chef at a restaurant in the Rolls Royce factory at Westhampnett has been named a finalist in the prestigious Kikkoman Masters 2019 professional chef competition.
Joe Baker, from the site’s Grayson’s Restaurants, will join nine other chefs to compete for the coveted title, Kikkoman Masters Winner 2019, and win a once-in-alifetime trip to Japan.
Chefs were challenged to come up with a starter and main course using Kikkoman Naturally Brewed Soy Sauce as an integral ingredient. Judges were impressed with Joe’s dishes which comprised: starter – soy-infused silken tofu, pan-fried soy-seasoned cauliflower, pickled purple cauliflower, yellow cauliflower cous cous, squash and ginger puree, lotus toot crisp; Main course – soy and miso braised fillet of brill, rice, carrot, courgette and soy noodles, cauliflower and wasabi puree, soy butter sauce.
The judging panel consists of celebrated names in the catering industry including TV chef Brian Turner.
Joe said: “The Kikkoman Masters is a growing competition with chefs so, getting through to the final is a great achievement and I’m really looking forward to it.” the final will take place on Monday.
