Colin glad to be back in swing for his year at helm

- Colin Westwood: back in the swing PAUL HILLS

Golf

Chichester Golf Club’s veterans’ section is up and running again – and captain Colin Westwood was looking to find a nicely groomed and pristine fairway on the 14th on the Tower Course.

The green staff had done a great job of keeping the course in great condition during the lockdown and the club owners had kept everyone well updated during the worst of the virus outbreak.

So when the time came members at Chichester were straining at the leash to get back out there. It took no time to find the right formats for the times, and stretching their technology skills a little they have devised competitions which fit the social distancing rules.

The exercise has shown how adaptable people can be when the need arises.

Colin is anxious that his season as captain isn’t hit too seriously. He thanked members for supporting his charity, the Chichester branch of St John Ambulance under these difficult circumstances.

By the way his ball hit the fairway...
