Scheme could be hidden gem

I always read the letters pages in the Observer but seldom the wodges of verbiage from politicians.

However, this last week, after reading the letters on page 24, I found myself reading the piece by the leader of the district council opposite.

Hidden there was the news about free parking in the city.

This actually is great news and well worthy of an article in its own right, I would suggest.

The particular scheme outlined is only a toe in the water, as it were, but the principle of regular free parking, if properly advertised, could be a big boost to get shopping in the city back on its feet.

Properly advertised would be helped if large areas of print were broken up into bite sizes like the letters page. More readers would tune in.
