TV show to feature Goodwood cricket field

The Goodwood cricket ground could be featured in a BBC television programme this week.

Gardeners’ World on BBC2 went to film at the venue last August as part of a sequence on the development of the mower, lawns and sports turf.

The two-part film covers the use of the scythe and how the invention of the lawn mower in 1830 influenced today’s lawns and sports.

The first part was shown in early April (episode four).

According to Goodwood, the second part (episode eight), which is being broadcast tomorrow (Friday) at 9pm, is ‘likely to include’ footage shot at its cricket club.

A spokesperson added: “Filming took place last August during the heatwave and will be presented by the horticultural historian Advolly Richmond.

“Goodwood will probably feature in a seven-minute sequence with three other locations.”
