Gardener and TV presenter Rachel de Thame
I’m supporting Garden Day because I am more aware than ever of how beneficial it is to garden, to wander through trees. Now more than ever, we’ve really all shown how gardens can make a difference to our mental wellbeing. The effect is powerful and it’s also important to celebrate how much fun it is.
I believe gardens have the power to make us feel happier, calmer and to be healthier. How wonderful that something so simple can have such a disproportionately significant effect on our wellbeing. It doesn’t seem to matter whether you’ve got widow boxes, or a stately home - the benefits are the same.
Garden Day is a day to be in the moment and enjoy the garden - sit back and relax. I shall enjoy things I have grown and have friends and family over for a meal. Garden Day can really pull everyone together.
