Family fun this summer

-

It’s set to be a summer of ‘staycations’ as travel restrictions to many popular holiday destinations abroad remain in place. But who needs to leave our shores – or even West Sussex – to experience a great summer holiday?

Below, we’ve listed some of the brilliant events set to go ahead this summer, as well as the farmers’ markets taking place in the area (see right).

But if you’re stuck for ideas, here’s five things you can do to keep the family entertained this summer without having to drive more than an hour.

1) Sky Park Farm

This deer farm turned tourist attraction only opened its doors to the public in May, and it’s already proving popular. The farm in Harting has an adventure playground for children, great walking trails, a café and visitors centre, and of course, deer!

2) Visit the beach

We’re lucky in this area to boast a number of beautiful beaches – and people travel from miles around to visit West Wittering beach. We’re lucky enough to have it on our doorstep, but do make sure you pre-book your parking.

3) Water sports

Visit Chichester Watersports just outside the city, where you can try wakeboarding, waterskiing, stand up paddle boarding and kayaking, and you can experience the Aqua Park.

4) Step back in time

Take a trip to the Weald & Downland Museum to see how people lived in years gone by.

5) Take a scenic walk We’re surrounded by the beautiful South Downs, with rolling hills, ancient woodland and coastal walks to explore. Make the most of our natural surroundings and explore the area on foot.
